Policy Statement

IACAB's commitments on impartiality, competence and quality in accreditation.

Last updated 6 October 2026

Quality policy

IACAB operates accreditation schemes for conformity assessment bodies in accordance with ISO/IEC 17011. IACAB's top management understands the importance of impartiality in accreditation activities, manages conflicts of interest, and ensures the objectivity of its assessments and decisions.

To this end, it is IACAB policy:

  • To operate its accreditation activities in conformity with ISO/IEC 17011 and its published scheme rules
  • To assess conformity assessment bodies only within the scope of the applicable standards and scheme requirements
  • To provide a service that is independent, impartial, fair and of high integrity
  • To continually improve the way we conduct our activities and the services we offer
  • To ensure that staff and assessors are competent for their roles and operate to IACAB's documented procedures

Impartiality policy

IACAB acts impartially in all assessment and accreditation activities. Impartiality is safeguarded by a formal process, including risk assessment, to ensure that employees, assessors, subcontractors and committee members are not influenced by commercial, financial or other pressures, threats or inducements.

IACAB offers its services to all conformity assessment bodies that fall within the scope of its schemes, without discrimination. Applications are neither expedited nor delayed for undue reasons, and there are no financial conditions other than payment of fees that affect access to accreditation.
